High Levels of Dietary Lard or Sucrose May Aggravate Lysosomal Renal Injury in Non-Obese, Streptozotocin-Injected CD-1 Mice Provided Isocaloric Diets

Daily fat and sugar intake has increased in Japan, while total energy decreased. However, the number of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients increased, this often causes renal injury characterized by autophagic vacuoles. Although many studies with comparisons high or versus a normal macronutrient balanced diet have been reported, there are few that equalized calorie body weights. In current study, AIN93M diets (CONT group) matching content lard derived saturated (LARD group), soybean oil unsaturated (SOY OIL sucrose (SUCROSE were provided to compare their effects on morphology streptozotocin-injected CD-1 mice without causing obesity. The tubular vacuoles was higher SUCROSE slightly LARD compared CONT mice, SOY mice. Most those LAMP1-positive, marker lysosomal autophagy. These results suggest despite identical contents, may aggravate non-obese, streptozotocin-induced model mellitus.
